Oxfordshire consultancy sharpens up with dual appointment

Oxfordshire PR consultancy, Razor (www.razor-pr.com), further boosts its team this spring with the appointments of Nikki Barber and Floyd Jebson.

Nikki and Floyd join the communications consultancy, based just outside Oxford, which specialises in crisis, risk and issues management and whose client base includes national and pan-European food manufacturers, as well as government-related bodies and utility-related organisations.

Nikki Barber, from Chesterton, near Bicester, has joined the specialist agency, bringing seven years of consultancy and in-house experience from the private, public and voluntary sectors. Most recently, Nikki was Public Relations Manager for Helen & Douglas House, the pioneering charity in Oxford providing respite and end of life care for children and young adults with life-shortening conditions.

In joining Razor, Nikki has returned to her heritage of food PR, having previously been a Senior Press Officer for the Food Standards Agency on the Consumer Health and Nutrition Team and a Consultant for Banbury-based agency, Porter Novelli, with clients such as Danish Bacon, Kraft Foods and Heinz.

A Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, Floyd joins Razor from a Birmingham-based agency where, amongst other clients, he undertook general media relations, including a programme of MP visits, for a FTSE100 pub company.

Previously, Floyd worked for Alliance & Leicester as Communications Manager. He has also worked for Royal Mail Group as a Media Relations Manager, covering the three group brands: Royal Mail, Post Office Ltd and Parcelforce Worldwide.

Before moving into public relations Floyd worked for 12 years in local newspapers in production and journalism, before studying full-time for a degree in Communication, Culture and Media.

Razor managing director, Chris Woodcock, says: "Both Nikki and Floyd are great fits for Razor. Our client base is increasingly looking for a combination of positive media relations ability plus risk management, so covering both reputation building and protection. These appointments reflect a period of busy growth for us; we're finding that more and more companies are looking for an agency that can offer 'big agency' thinking without the corresponding price tag. Being based in Oxfordshire enables us to offer exactly that."

Nikki and Floyd's clients at Razor include leading utility and environmental engineering consultancy MWH, international food ingredients manufacturer Cargill, a global property management company and Skills for Logistics, the sector skills council for the logistics industry.
