Lucy FergusonLucy is a consultant with more than 12 years’ experience in the media. An NCTJ-qualified journalist and CIPR-qualified PR professional, she has worked on national and regional daily and weekly newspapers, including the Sunday Times and the Daily Mail. Lucy started her PR career with Thames Valley Police where, as a media and communications manager, she looked after internal and external communications and media relations for the Oxford police area for nearly five years. Lucy received a Chief Constable’s Commendation for her media work following the death of Dr David Kelly in 2004. Crisis management and communications were an everyday part of the role. Lucy then progressed to the University of Reading, where as Media Relations Manager she fronted the University’s media team, dealing with corporate communications, internal communications, crisis management and senior communications support at strategic level, writing and implementing the University’s external communications strategy. Lucy was a key advisor to the Vice Chancellor and his top team and oversaw the recent announcement of the University’s merger with Henley Management College, all communications surrounding the £250million Whiteknights campus development plan and the promotion of the new entrance scholarship programme. Lucy’s background means she is adept at managing crisis and issue communications, as well as driving forward proactive communications strategies. She is also an experienced media trainer. |
